In this edition of Presence Pulse, we talk to the ever-inspiring Mel Histon, founder of Got Your Back Sista, about the upcoming “I run for her” event and our involvement in the charity at Presence Real Estate.
We also took the opportunity to reflect on the incredible partnership between Presence Real Estate and this impactful local charity.
Mel reminisced about our shared journey, noting,
“The camaraderie and mutual support with Presence over these years have been truly heartwarming. I fondly recall those early days when Shula Kentwell would warmly usher me into various forums, providing a golden opportunity to engage with some of the most dynamic minds in the real estate world.
“One memory that resonates powerfully is that evening when, as a united force, we managed to rally the community and raise an impressive $21,000 for our cause. Presence Real Estate did this through one of the live auction events, called “The Main Event.”
“It wasn’t just about the money; it was about what it symbolised – unity, compassion, and a shared mission. What consistently impresses me about Presence is not just their willingness but the eagerness to engage. Whether orchestrating thoughtful events, leading charity auctions with gusto, or championing causes like ‘I run for her’, Presence Real Estate’s commitment to confronting and alleviating the challenges of domestic violence is unmatched.
“I’d be remiss not to mention the tireless efforts of Chasse and Sam Ede last year. Their enthusiasm and drive set a high bar and they helped raise thousands of dollars. And, transitioning to a personal note, having a professional like Natalie Tonks guide us in our house sale was an experience defined by trust and expertise.”
Presence Real Estate is participating in the Run for Her Event again on 15th October this year, where we are aiming to raise $5000 for domestic violence awareness.
Adding further, Melissa stressed, “Every participant in the run, every supporter cheering from the sidelines, and every dollar generously donated forms a collective effort of hope and reassurance for women seeking a fresh start after facing domestic violence. It’s more than just a race; it’s a statement, a commitment. It’s about establishing safe havens, initiating empowering workshops, and above all, reminding these brave souls that they aren’t alone in their journey.”
